Amtrak resuming service, SEPTA still suspended after freight train derails in Delco
Two hopper cars on a freight train carrying stone derailed overnight on the Northeast Corridor Line in Delaware County, halting service on SEPTA’s Wilmington-Newark Line and on Amtrak trains between Washington and Philadelphia.
Just before 8 a.m., Amtrak said service was resuming but that there would be significant delays because of reduced number of tracks through the derailment area. No word yet from SEPTA on when it might resume service

A freight train derailment in Delaware County overnight leaving some SEPTA and Amtrak passengers stranded for hours Thursday morning. Even when Amtrak Northeast Corridor service resumed, the transit agency warned of "significant" delays.

There were no injuries reported and the train was not carrying any hazardous materials.
Norfolk Southern crews and contractors were on scene overnight cleaning up the spilled stone.
